Lily and Harry tied the knot at the lovely Mytton and Mermaid in Shrewsbury. A nice country pub situated right on the river Severn, it was an amazing setting for a lovely day. Lily and Harry are two ex drama students who met at university in Wales so as expected the day was filled to bursting with personality and emotion. Lily had to get herself down the aisle, with the help of her mum, through some pretty intense tears of joy, which didn’t make for the most flattering of photographs… Luckily she managed to recover and get through her vows and by the end she was beaming from ear to ear.

I went down to Shrewsbury the day before the wedding so I had the chance to visit the venue beforehand. For the ceremony I prefer to photograph without flash, in order to be as inconspicuous as possible, but their venue was so dark it was going to be impossible. It was a beautiful, cosy and intimate room and perfectly suited the feelings that were bouncing around. And because the ceilings were so low I was able to bounce some quite low flash and get some really beautiful shots of the pair of them. It was definitely one of the more challenging of ceremonies I’ve captured.
After the ceremony we went down to the river for some group shots and they returned to their reception through a cloud of confetti. When it came to cutting the cake they both look pretty excited about the prospect of cake… I commented on this and in return I got a photograph of the pair of them with their eyes popping out and their mouths wide open in over the top, uncontrollable excitement. It was really funny and made for a great shot.
The drama student in both of them came out a little later on the dance floor. When a medley of ‘Greece’ songs came on and the room split down the middle, with the boys on one side and the girls on the other. They sang and acted along with the help of their friends and family, all totally spontaneous but brilliant.

“Lucy’s creative talent & enthusiasm was so obvious when we met her for the first time; we felt completely confident about her photographing our wedding. On the day, our guests commented on how lovely Lucy was as she subtly bounced around capturing so many clever shots. Our day was very colourful and the way she captured this was beyond my expectations…just perfect. She worked her socks off for us, and we couldn’t be more grateful.” VIEW GALLERY
