Sarah and Justin got married at the amazing Belair House in Dulwich, South London, which is quite local to me so it’s a venue I’ve seen and been desperate to capture for some time. They have revived an 18th Century Georgian mansion to reflect its heritage and charm, situated in the lovely sweeping grounds of Belair Park.
It was a day that was designed down to the last detail. The theme was based around the acorn, a symbol of life, growth and immortality. One of their guests had crocheted hundreds of little acorns that were scattered throughout the day. The first acorns I saw were given to the flower girls in the morning and had smiley faces stitched on, which made the little girl smile too. There was also a model tree with the little crocheted acorns hanging from the branches alongside photographs of friends and family who had passed away but who would have loved to have been there. Gone but not forgotten.
The table settings were words put together using scrabble letters and represented different aspects of marriage, with a little framed definition on each of the tables. The earthy tones of acorns and wood and leaves were repeated throughout all the details bringing them all together to create a really elegant and thought-through style to the day, and brought all the photographs together as well.
It was my first Belair House wedding and I thought it was a gorgeous place to have a wedding, the room where the ceremony took place was light and bright with the most amazing sunshine streaming through the windows, wheras the room with the bar was lovely and cozy with dark wood panelled walls and comfy sofas. There is a beautiful sweeping staircase which makes every brides dress look at its best and they grounds are great for the kids to have a good run around.

“Lucy’s creative talent & enthusiasm was so obvious when we met her for the first time; we felt completely confident about her photographing our wedding. On the day, our guests commented on how lovely Lucy was as she subtly bounced around capturing so many clever shots. Our day was very colourful and the way she captured this was beyond my expectations…just perfect. She worked her socks off for us, and we couldn’t be more grateful.” VIEW GALLERY
