The Tour de Yorkshire is a road cycling race in the historic county of Yorkshire, England which started in May 2015.
In 2014 the Tour de France held it’s first two stages of the Tour in Yorkshire following the success of Chris Froome the year before. The Tour started from Leeds to Harrogate, and then York to Sheffield, and were nicknamed Le Tour de Yorkshire. They’ve held a separate legacy tour in Yorkshire every year since then.
My family held onto a property in Ilkley, Yorkshire, after my grandparents passed away. Luckily for us it just happened to face onto the route the riders were going to take. I took this opportunity to go for a little people watching wander and get some snaps of the pre-race excitement. Everyone was out in force and so was the sunshine!
The actual race viewing experience was over in a manner of seconds, but the excitement lasted for much longer. The whole of yorkshire got into the spirit of it and yellow bikes were everywhere we went!

“Lucy’s creative talent & enthusiasm was so obvious when we met her for the first time; we felt completely confident about her photographing our wedding. On the day, our guests commented on how lovely Lucy was as she subtly bounced around capturing so many clever shots. Our day was very colourful and the way she captured this was beyond my expectations…just perfect. She worked her socks off for us, and we couldn’t be more grateful.” VIEW GALLERY
