“Her style is vibrant and fun, which is exactly what we wanted” –Sarah+Sam

I specialise in wedding photography in Oxfordshire, and I’m based in Oxford itself. But I’ll travel all over the country if you want me to. I love heading down to Cornwall, or up to Yorkshire. I sometimes drag the family and turn it into a holiday if it’s somewhere particularly picturesque. I also don’t charge any extra. I’ve also shot the odd job overseas, so do get in touch, even if you’re getting married abroad.

On a typical wedding day I photograph for up to 10 hours. That usually covers the last hour or so of getting ready and an hour or so into the dancing/evening celebrations. But you can add on extra hours if your timeline needs it.

I promise you, everyone on my website said the same thing! And look how lovely and relaxed they all look. On the day, you’ll be so wrapped up in everything going on you won’t even notice me by the end of it, and all those nice natural smiles will just happen.

Even if we slip off for some couple shots, we’ll just go for a wander and you’ll get some time to hang out. It’s my job to make you guys feel comfortable and to capture you just being you guys, no awkward posing! I’ve written a bit more about my style and approach on a separate page, if you want to check that out.

We can also meet up for a pre-wedding shoot if you’d like to just have a bit of practice.

For a 10 hour wedding day you’ll normally get about 800-1000 images and you’ll receive them in a private password-protected online gallery. From there you’ll be able to download the high-res jpegs or even buy prints, if you like. You’ll also be able to share this with friends and family so they can relive the day too.

I always shoot with 2 professional Canon DSLR cameras and a collection of Canon L series lenses. I also have an additional back-up camera just-in-case, and I have a ton of high-quality memory cards and fancy flash guns. And you bet I’m fully insured! I have public indemnity and public liability insurance, and all of my snazzy camera gear is insured too.

Both my cameras shoot onto two memory cards, so your wedding is being backed up as I go. And then when I get home I immediately upload the images onto a raid hard drive which creates another two copies, this in turn uploads to my online backup. So by then morning after your wedding there will be five copies of your wedding images.

I usually shoot on my own, I can take up to 6000 photographs in a 10 hour wedding day, which is usually enough… But there are certain times when a second shooter makes things a little easier.

-If your guest list is upwards of 120 people, I usually need a bit of backup to give everyone enough attention.

-It makes the mornings easier if we can divide and conquer and get to both of you if you’re far away from each other.

-And if you’re keen on loads of lovely relaxed candid photographs but you also need a long list of group shots a second shooter can help with mingling around your guests while we’re off taking group shots and couple pics.

I don’t usually visit venues in advance of the wedding as I genuinely feel there isn’t a need. Although I might arrive the night before or check out the venue early on the morning of the wedding. For me, the best photographs are made by going with the flow on the day. Of course I’m happy for you to mention certain locations you’ve got your heart set on though.

I will attempt to get your full gallery back to you within 4 weeks. However, toward the end of the summer this sometimes slips to more like 6 weeks. I usually send over a highlights reel sooner than that though.

Your online gallery will be available for a year, but do try to do a full download ASAP and back them up in several places. I’ve had couples come back to me five years down the line who can’t find their USB stick, when those were a thing… (though actually, I still had that wedding in my archive storage, so luckily I was able to send them another copy). Also make sure you print some or make an album! Screens are great for convenience, but prints are still the best way for you to experience special photographs.

The copyright of the images always remains with the photographer, but you guys get a personal license, so you can produce, share and print all your wedding images. The only thing you can’t do with the photos is to use them for commercial resale.

If you’d like to get booked in I’ll send over a booking form for you to fill in, and then it’ll be a non-refundable 25% deposit to secure the date. The rest of the balance will be due a month before the wedding day itself.

In 12 years I have never missed a wedding, even when I was 8 months pregnant, although I did rope in some backup in the form of the lovely Ollie Hinds Photography for the last few weddings that year. Touch wood it’ll never happen but, if I am ever incapacitated, I’m part of several groups of top-notch emergency cover photographers and I promise I’ll find you someone great.

I often get enquiries for the same date, so whoever agrees to the T&Cs and pays the deposit first is confirmed. I’ll let you know if I get another enquiry for the same date within a couple of weeks after we chat.

I photograph all sorts of other events, from christenings to memorial services. Drinks receptions, conferences, corporate gigs. And also I love shooting The Oxford Comedy Festival most years. Get in touch for prices.

Previous corporate clients have included Investec, the University of Oxford Mathematical Insitute, the Ernest Cook Trust and plenty of others.

“Lucy was amazing! she captured our wedding perfectly. We really loved how she was unobtrusive in her shots but had great suggestions for composition and just photographing natural moments which we thought worked really well. Our guests loved them too. I would highly recommend her!”

“Her pictures have a wonderful combination of dynamism and craft— like having all the immediacy and personality of candid photos taken by a good friend at the same time as displaying the eye of a true artist!”
