I was put in touch with Erik and Laura through an old tutor. It was slightly strange as they were both working over in New York so they’d had to plan a lot of their day from there. We had a chat on the phone, but I didn’t actually meet them until a day before their wedding. They’d already had the official ‘I do’s’ over in New York, as Erik is half American, so they were just coming back in order to have a day that all their family and friends could also enjoy.
I got this lovely review from Erik after the day, I was chuffed!
“Lucy was an absolute pro through the entire wedding process. My wife and I had a particularly tricky set up – living in New York, but travelling back home to have our wedding in London. It made our lives so much easier that Lucy was so responsive over email and was equally willing to jump on the phone at all hours of the day! Her desire to capture what we wanted on the day was clear and she brought loads of great ideas to the table. Making us feel comfortable right from the start. On the Big Day itself, Lucy again showed what a star she is. Lovingly referred to as the “long-lens ninja”, she managed to achieve the impossible. She blended in seamlessly with all the guests (we wanted very candid photos, very much Lucy’s style). And yet when we thought about having certain shots taken “on demand”, she was immediately on hand. I have no idea how she managed this dual feat, but it was just fantastic. Naturally, as soon as the photos arrived, me and my wife were delighted with the outcome. If I were you, I’d snap her up before someone else does. Seriously.” (Erik)
The service was at Wandsworth Town Hall with the reception at a really nice pub in Wimbledon called the Fox and Grapes. The light in the pub was amazing, from the outside it looked like it was going to be really dark and tricky to capture. But the sunlight streamed through the little windows and gave everyone a really nice glow. It was so much fun wandering around capturing all the faces of their friends and family.
The ‘pub’ was quite a key feature in Erik and Laura’s day. They’d got a friend to make up a pub quiz about them for their guests to take part in. All the tables were mixed up and each of them joined forces to play against each other. It became quite competitive. Erik’s dad, as a surprise, had brought over beer tankards for all the guests with the date of the two wedding days engraved on them. He’d also brought some Brooklyn Larger from across the pond to have a bit of New York as part of the day.
A lot of the planning for the day had been entrusted to two of Laura’s sisters. And from the look of it they’d left it in good hands. They’d been to Covent Garden flower market to pick out the flowers and arranged them all themselves. There were also lovely slate table names and scrabble nameplates for everyone, It all looked beautifully designed. They skyped friends who couldn’t be there and pulled funny faces, ate cake and danced into the night.

“Lucy’s creative talent & enthusiasm was so obvious when we met her for the first time; we felt completely confident about her photographing our wedding. On the day, our guests commented on how lovely Lucy was as she subtly bounced around capturing so many clever shots. Our day was very colourful and the way she captured this was beyond my expectations…just perfect. She worked her socks off for us, and we couldn’t be more grateful.” VIEW GALLERY
