Spa Hotel Royal Tunbridge Wells

I photographed the wedding of Adrian and Liz at the beautiful Spa Hotel Royal Tunbridge Wells. Liz is the sister of a photographer friend of mine and he didn’t want to be the sole photographer on her big day. As he wanted to be able to have some fun. So I stepped in and took on half of the day and allowed him to clock out in the early evening.

In the morning I had the joy of capturing the boys getting ready, It was brilliant! Couples often only ask for me to photograph the bride in the morning, as there’s normally a bit more going on, make up, hair, getting the dress on etc. But it’s the guy’s day too! And on this occasion I got to take pictures of the boys. They were avoiding ironing, choosing instead to watch rugby in the hotel bar and eat large quantities of bacon sandwiches. They left themselves about half an hour to do said ironing, learn how to tie cravats on YouTube, and work out the pinning of a buttonhole. Because they had left themselves with not a lot of time they all had to help each other out and it was all a bit crazy, but it was great fun to photograph.

The Spa Hotel, Royal Tunbridge Wells has a beautiful room called the Orangery to get married in where the light streams in through the windows that surround it. It was a pleasure to witness this lovely pair tie the knot and to go on a lovely wander with them afterwards in the hotels grounds’.

In the evening we’d set up a couple of studio lights and got hold of lots of fancy-dress props so the guests could get together in different groups and create some really fun images.
