Siobhan and Terry were hitched in the lovely Acorn Barn between Stadhampton and Little Milton, and kindly asked me to be their wedding photographer. The couple’s day had been delayed due to Covid and they really wanted a day full of joy, celebrating finally bringing their families together. Acorn Barn is a stunning, spacious and flexible venue set in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. With three acres of tranquil garden and a blank-canvas barn you have the freedom to personalise it all to your heart’s content.

No-Corkage at an Acorn Barn Wedding

A lot of wedding venues have suppliers they insist you work with, which normally means you have to compromise in some areas, to get the venue you want. Acorn Barn is a dry-hire venue so you are free to bring all your own ideas and suppliers, from the photos to your food. The owner, Bridget Vincent, used Acorn Barn for her daughter’s wedding back in 2016. The day was so lovely she thought others might like to do the same. She wanted to provide a wonderfully intimate venue but without tying any couple to a specific style. You can bring in food trucks or caterers or just have a picnic on the lawn. You can buy your own drinks without having to pay corkage. You can create a day that truly embodies you both.

A DIY wedding venue close to Oxford

Acorn barn just provides you with a stunning backdrop from 1pm the day before to 11am the day after. So you are able to truly make the space your own and bring your wedding dreams to life. There’s also on hand help with setting and packing up and coordination from the Acorn Barn team, if necessary. The barn is 18x12m and will comfortably sit 150 for food and even more for dancing. Siobhan wanted to celebrate her Mexican heritage and also travels they’d enjoyed together before kids and Covid! They enlisted Luna and the lane and AMW Events to help inject colour into everything from their chairs to their napkins. Filling the barn with so much colour and life.

Features of Acorn Barn that look wonderful in photographs

Acorn barn is licensed to hold weddings indoors and out so you don’t have to worry about the british weather ruining your day. That being said, the gardens at Acorn Barn are so stunning it would be a shame to not spend time in them. The couple opted to say their “I do’s” underneath a beautiful flower arch outside in the sunshine. The flowers were vibrant pinks, oranges and turquoises and they brought so much joy to the photographs. The real flowers were also an absolute dream of punchy pinks, deep purples and apricots pulled together by Freya Rose floral design. They helped to add punches of colour wherever you looked and really popped against the greens of the garden and neutral shades in the barn.

Siobhan’s mum had made all the flower girls dresses with some gorgeous Liberty fabric she’d found a roll of. All the kids ran around the dreamy gardens surrounding Acorn barn all day long and it was so much fun to capture. It was exactly the vibe Siobhan and Terry described, a wedding full of festive fun and colour. It was a privilege to be their photographer.
