Hey, I’m a documentary wedding photographer in Oxford, and while procrastinating over writing a nice reassuring “How to plan/postpone a wedding during a pandemic” blog post, which would probably be really useful right about now, I got distracted by hugs. Last week I did a post about how much I missed the pub and a good pub wedding, so I thought this week I’d share an equally useful post about how much I miss hugs. I mean my other half is a pretty good hugger so I shouldn’t complain too much… But there are a whole load of other people who I miss squeezing, and I think that’s a pretty common feeling during this mad time! (May 2020, incase you’re reading this in the distant future and don’t know what I’m talking about)
I don’t think it’s a completely pointless theme to make a page on my website about though as it’s something pretty key to every wedding. A wedding day isn’t just the love of two people, it’s all the love that got those two people to that point in time. All the parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, friends, a lifetime of hugs. It’s about all of those people coming together and sharing in one big day of joy. And if that doesn’t involve a whole lot of hugging then what’s the point!?
I thought I’d share some of the pictures that jumped out at me as feeling particularly significant at the moment, when we can’t see our loved ones. And I hope my couples are looking back at these photos too! I feel like these are the sorts of images that’ll take my couples back to how they were feeling on that day. Possibly more so that the beautiful portraits they have of the pair of them, because lets face it, they’re probably pretty sick of that other persons face at the moment… I mean a little variety is always nice, Sorry Ben…

“Lucy’s creative talent & enthusiasm was so obvious when we met her for the first time; we felt completely confident about her photographing our wedding. On the day, our guests commented on how lovely Lucy was as she subtly bounced around capturing so many clever shots. Our day was very colourful and the way she captured this was beyond my expectations…just perfect. She worked her socks off for us, and we couldn’t be more grateful.” VIEW GALLERY
