Hyde House Wedding Photographer

I’ve had the pleasure of being the wedding photographer at Hyde House a few times now and it’s always been a joy. Hyde House runs such a slick operation, without making the couple feel like they’re on a wedding conveyor belt. Everything in the venue has been thought through to the point where the bride and groom are able to get on with enjoying their magical day in the Cotswolds without a worry. Hyde house and the people who run it have thought through everything from the spaces where everything takes place to the timings and are ready to jump in whenever they are needed.

Why I love photographing weddings at Hyde House

Hyde House has lovely spaces for both of the couple to get ready in, which makes my morning nice and simple. Being able to go back and forth between the couple means I get a real feel for the preparations taking place. I can get to know some of the key people around the couple, so I know who to focus on more in photographs later in the day. There is a cosy library where I photographed James getting ready with his best-men. A room that Hyde House designed to be comforting and relaxing, it made the perfect space to spend a few nervous pre-wedding hours. The bride gets ready in the loft space, with gorgeous vanity mirrors adored with glowing lights. The room is full of natural light and all the mirrors make for lovely subtle photographs.

What Hyde House In the Cotswolds has to offer as your wedding venue

Hyde House is a gorgeous Victorian house on the edge of Stow-on-the-wold in the heart of the Cotswolds. A terrace and garden wrap around Hyde house with sweeping lawns down to stunning tranquil views across Gloucestershire. This is an exquisite spot for drinks and canapes after the ceremony and for unforgettable photographs. A floral Arbour at the bottom of the garden provides the perfect spot for couples who are gifted with good weather. But if an outdoor wedding ceremony isn’t possible Hyde House also has the option of ceremonies in The Grange.

Features of Hyde House that look wonderful in wedding photographs

The Grange at Hyde House has a luxurious but relaxed feel and comfortably seats 150 people without feeling too overwhelming. The farmhouse-style doors are perfect for your grand entrance and for leaving through together, hand in hand, as husband and wife. With Its big bay windows, it’s a light and airy space with white walls making it a dream to photograph in. Lots of barn weddings in the Cotswolds, place the couple in the deepest darkest corner, and although cozy and romantic is pretty tricky to capture in photographs. I often have to resort to flash, which sometimes has a negative impact on your experience. Hyde House on the other hand places you guys in the most flattering light possible, so you can have the bright and vibrant photographs you’ll treasure forever.

Natural unposed wedding photographs from Hyde House

We then moved on to the Hyde House Barn for the rest of the day. The space offers many different table setups, and a blank canvas for you to personalise to your heart’s content. With vaulted ceilings and double-height windows, it feels both modern and elegant with a touch of rustic. As a photographer I sometimes have to use flash in the evenings to deal with the falling light, but with the white walls of the Hyde House Barn I can do this without taking away from the intimacy of your day. Using flashguns I can bounce the light off the white walls or use a flash on a light stand behind you giving you a radiant halo. I am therefore able to keep capturing natural and unposed photographs, without ruining the joyous atmosphere. This is mainly to capture all the smiles and laughs of guests listening to heartfelt and emotional speeches. And to also get festive fun-filled photographs of the dance-floor.

Professional photographers love to shoot at Hyde house

After everyone is fed and watered and has had a good happy cry. Guests can spill into the Bar area for mingling and drinks while the band or DJ sets up. And then return to the dance-floor for some exuberant celebrations and have a relaxed evening. Hyde House’s main building and the converted coach house include an impressive 20 bedroom for the couple and their guests to stay in. I love weddings where the couple don’t have to worry about the logistics of getting home. They can fully let go and enjoy their unforgettable day. I’d like to thank Hyde House for looking after me so well. They kept me in the loop throughout the day and brought me delicious food too. I’m very much looking forward to a booking I have there next year!

KIND WORDS

Helen+James

“Lucy had photographed some friends’ wedding years before I even met my husband to be, and I knew I wanted her as my photographer if/when the day eventually came! She was the first supplier I booked when we had a date – and then Covid hit and we had to postpone, and she was wonderful with the flexibility of it all and communication through it all. The day itself was glorious and the photographs are to die for – they are truly wonderful, capturing some gorgeous more formal shots (still pretty fun and casual) but mostly, what I loved best, capturing the wonderful feel of everyone in the moment! The album is full of gorgeous memories. I love Lucy’s photography style – I’m aware all photographers do use filters, but Lucy’s images don’t look like they do, no odd graininess or lighting added, she just captured the day exactly as I remembered it. Perfect and full of joy!! On the day she slipped seamlessly into the photography, managing to blend in so well we almost didn’t know she was there. I can’t recommend Lucy enough – and do, regularly!”
